    1) IS modchip.com a reliable site? Do they use authentic chips or clones?

    2) Is the ColdHeat soldering iron good enough to install a modchip?

I ordered a DMS4 S.E PRO from Modchip.com and I was wanting to make sure it was authentic before installing it into my ps2 (Though I guess it'd be a bit late if it wasn't aye?)

I am having my brother in law mod my ps2 for me and I wanted to make sure I get all the equipment together for him. A good soldering iron and what not

    Help please?

donno about modchip.com i tried mod-chip.com before n there were legit. Havent seen fake DMS chips before. cold heat are nice for soldering, but not for ps2, the tip are WAY TO BIG(although u could still mod it if u really try). a good solder iron is the radioshack 15watts. Also some things you might need.

Flux (makes soldering alot eaiser and sticks the wire to the mobo)

Desolder wick or braid (strand of wire like material, mops up the solder, in case you put too much)

Solder (You should get thin ones but if u already have solder w/e)

Multimeter (to test if fuses are blown, and to test if the wires are solder correctly. Might want to get this if u are having problems)

Also with ps2 installs, try not to overlap the wires and the shorter the wire is the better. i seen installs that look crappy but works though.

    http://www.teammodders.com/
check out that site. they have install picture and instructions in the forums, and the guides should tell you exactly what you need to have to do the installs.

TeamModders seem pretty cheap for modding a ps2, but are they reliable? Any issues thus far? It'd cost me about the same to get all the equipment and pay my brother (if not more) so having them do it would be a lot easier -.- How reliable/ good at their job are they. I don't want my ps2 frying out. It's a v7 and i'll be installing a hard drive as soon as I get it (barely ever using my laser, score)

I have a V5/V6 PS2 and they modded it. They did an A+ job with only one day for installation (it's a good thing that the installer lives close to me). They also threw in alot of really good extras. Altough, all of that costs 95 bucks :(

    Still, they are great.

    Installation is 35 bucks.

The rest dependes. What chip you buy (you can send in your chip)
and if you install a laserfix or an HDCombo or something.

But since you have the chip, it's basically just 35 bucks.

Yes, i am a moderator on their forum site so i can tell you they are reliable. I have had 2 PS2 modded by them, bought a premodded Xbox from them, had my 360 done by them and had my friends Xbox chipped by them. If you have any issues you can just PM me at the site as i visit it every day to check over posts. It may take a day or two to get a response on a request as they are usually pretty busy.

The main modder for PS2's is in California, and you would be responsible for paying the shipping costs to and from his shop, and of course the install. So $35 plus the shipping is what i paid when mine was done. Shipping cost me about $15 each way but it is cheaper for me as the comapny i work for ships UPS every day and gets discounts.

You get a free 30 dar warranty and for just about $8 you can extend that further if you like. If you looked at the install pictures you can see that they do a top notch job, and looking at the posts in the site feedback section of the forums you will see many very happy customers.

Was it by any chance Evan? He has a shop in WI and has been modding for a long time. Also the owner of the site.
