I don't have a cell phone. But does anyone know a textfree or textplus alternative that I could use, maybe from my computer? I just want to keep up with my friends in their texting circle. Thanks

I just started using Chime. It is still in beta, but it lets me text from my computer or phone for free -they give you a new phone number for your computer. It still has some bugs and stuff but all my friends love it. You have to put your email in and wait till they let you in but it’s pretty good. its at http://www.chimenow.com/

Actually it works pretty well. You sign up at http://www.chimenow.com/tn and wait for them to email you with directions. Its really new but its cool. The service lets you text to mobile numbers as well as connect to AIM and facebook.

Yeah I have a Chime account, it works really well for texting and I didn't know until I got the service that it also lets you connect to Gtalk and Yahoo messenger. It will also be helpful when my family and i go to greece this summer because its free to text to the US internationally. I'm trying to get Chime's iPhone app too

So since NO ONE answered MY question... I still haven't gotten the app yet. THere is a long process for it, but the "chime team" told me it should be out in the iTunes app store within the next week. In the mean time i will just continue using it on the web i guess.. the app will def make it easier to use everywhere i go tho
