    Here's some suggestions:
    Nero version: 6.3.1.12
Update Nero - you're several versions behind and Nero isn't fully recognizing the drive:
Connected to MMC as unknown drive with class-nr : 11
Drive is autodetected - recorder class: DVD+R9 DL recorder

You can update to 6.6.1.5 - link

    Recorder: <LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1633S>Version: BPSA
Can use a firmware update too.
Did this drive come with the pc? You can check the pc manufacturers site for an update.

Or you can try this site - the latest is BSOY - link.
May not work if this is an oem drive.
You can also crossflash to LiteOn firmware - use the BSOY patched - link.
If by chance this drive is still under warranty using the patched firmware would void it.

    File 'Drivers\CDRALW2K.SYS':
Nero and Roxio don't always play well together. So if still failing uninstall Roxio and run the zap tool.

    Keep us posted.

Hi, I'll try to explain my problem as best I can. I have been reading these forums trying to find an answer to my problem. I'll start at the beginning. I'm fairly new to this and I'm not to technically smart, but I'll try..

I recently started making slideshows from MomeriesOnTV. It came to my attention that not all Disc could be played on all home DVD players. I started reading about bitsetting and that seemed like an easy answer.I downloaded DVD decrypter and did as told. Instead of giving me the message of "success" it said "failure" on the very bottom, left side of decrypter it reads "F/W not supported!". I have a <LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1633S>Version: BPSA, and from what I've been reading it should be no problem doing this...(sigh).
I'm not sure if this is related, but I"ll throw this in here. I had a program called "Interview WinDVD" I also have 'Nero 7'.and also in here is 'Record Now!' Whenever I went to burn a DVD, WinDVD would pop up and then say it caused an error.I couldn't find the option to stop the auto-start, so I un-installed the program. That seemed to be fine.I have no clue if all those programs are needed.
I just read this forum and it said to update my 'firmware' but the instructions warn that it is for the experienced user, so I want to make sure I should be doing this.
1)Would this forum pertain to my problem?
    2) Would bitsetting be beneficial to me?
Thank you for any help anyone might be able to give me!

@tarponana....... sadly to say, you just hijacked this thread. It's ok... you're a newbie..... don't worry about it. And welcome to Afterdawn..... but if you read the rules of the forum a member should never introduce his/her own problem or question inside a thread that is already trying to help out another member. Your problem and question should have been asked in your own thread! Just start a thread asking for help. Never try to take over a thread that is helping someone else out. with this in mind, and knowing it's one of your first times asking questions here, I'll answer some stuff you asked here:

your drive: <LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1633S>Version: BPSA is a little confusing to me.... it shows that the latest firmware version to this drive is: BSOY and that your version: BPSA isn't even listed here:
    http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1934
one questions and one observation about your firmware:
1 did you try to update your firmware to BPSA or is this the original firmware that came with your drive
2 your drive might be an OEM drive that won't take firmware updates. I don't know, because usually all firmware would be listed in the Firmware Page for your drive and yours is not listed at all.

You have Record Now, which is a Roxio/Sonic program that can interfere with Nero when burning a DVD. So if you're having a problem with Nero burning DVDs then uninstall Roxio/Sonic (Record Now/ or MyDVD) and use a registry cleaner, Defrag and also run Roxio Zapper:
    http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Roxio-Zap.shtml
doing this will clean out your registry and set your files in order so your computer won't work too hard when burning DVDs which makes it more of a chance to have success when burning!

I don't have a Lite-On burner, so booktyping I can't comment on whether your drive can be booktyped to DVD-ROM when using +R media! But you should follow this:
    1. select your burner (then hit TOOLS/DRIVE/CHANGE BOOKTYPE)
    2. select your LITE-ON tab
    3. Change for +R media
    4. New Setting: DVD-ROM
    5. hit CHANGE
If this doesn't work then your drive might be an OEM drive and might not be able to change for Booktyping! I would ask Binkie.... she has Lite-On drives and might know about your drive and how to do it!

hopefully I helped a little..... next time ask your own questions in your by starting your own thread.
