I am using memorex DVD-R 8x and keep getting a message from Decrypter that says "unable to recover TOC" what does this mean? I then tried a DVD-RW and get the same message.

    TOC means Table of Contents.

Much more specific detail is going to be needed to help.
What are you trying to accomplish and what steps (in detail) have you done so far to get to this wretched place in life.

I used Decrypter to copy movie to hard drive. I then used Shrink to analyze and compresss. Then proceeded to burn to DVD with Decrypter

I have also had the same message couple of times when burning ISO files created by DVD Shrink. Do not know what it means but the discs still played OK which it the main thing.

Ah - I always use File mode in DVD Decrypter.

What burner software you use sgwillim, and what DVD are you attempting to backup?

    I am backing up "Ray".
I have a HP dvd writer/cd writer combo.
    Type: HP DVD Writer 200j

I have since changed my DVD disks to Philips DVD+R and now it can read the disk but the writing will not begin. It keeps restarting, problem was "unknown"??
