Woodruff, would you let me know what happened please. I also unlocked a Portuguese TMN 1600, but when I substituted my wife's T-Mobile SIM, the phone could not find the network. So I'm wondering if you ran into a similar problem, or if you used a different network and were OK.

    Thanks.

A Nokia 1600 from Europe will not work in the USA.
    Wrong Frequency Band.
Europe uses 900/1800Mhz Bands and the US uses 850/1900/Bands.

Joe, I was worried about that, so I downloaded the 1600 User Guide from Nokia. According to its Technical Information section, its frequency range capabilites are: GSM 850, GSM 1900, GSM 900, and GSM 1800. Which looks like that is everything you mentioned. Is there a secondary lock for the GSM frequency range?

I sometimes see two unlock numbers for the 1600's in the forum, and I was wondering about the second number.

    Regards, JLT

The 1600 is a Duel Band Phone.
    It's EITHER 850/1900 OR 900/1800.
No way that one will work in the US.
