Unlock code for 6102b, please.

I foolishly played around with this before thinking to do some research, and have already entered two incorrect codes. Does anyone know offhand if the 6102b gives you 3 or 5 chances to get it right?

Oh, I was afraid of that. I'm in Mexico City for the year, on assignment. Any suggestions as to how I might safely unlock this bad boy? And here's a thoroughly n00b question: what would happen if I called Cingular and asked them for an unlock code? I bought the phone at full retail price... it seems like that should count for something?
