The 6800 is a dual band phone 850/1900MHz. It is not compatible with Networks outside of North America.

No, you cannot change the 6800 to a tri-band unless you want to re-build it. The 6070 can be unlocked, and if you are in the UK I can recommend you to someone who can unlock (postal unlock) it for you.
