Ok, when I play backed up games with my flip-top, it always made some noises, I think it was the laser moving alot. But just yesterday, I was playing NCAA football 2005 and even more noises started! they were like grinding noises and things like that! HELP!!
(I use DVD decryptor, read, write ISO, 1X speed, not sure what brand media) This problem is really worrying me now!!!

Do you guys think the grinding has anything to do with the white thing on the flip-top that is suposed to hold the disk down?

    1. don't post your question more than once.
    2. when you put pressure on the top, does the noise stop?

no the noise doesnt stop, I tried it today, like the grinding noise isnt constant, the only noise that is constant is the sound of the laser constantly mpving back and forth, and the grinding noise comes in at certain times, and I pushed down on the lid during the grinding and it kept going, and, I alwso put some weight on the lid, bu the noise didnt stop, help

My suspicion is that what sly said will hold true. If this is the case than try taking the fliptop cover off and just place the white disc directly onto the game. I had to deal with this before, and thanks to the advice of some of the afterdawners I was able to get my ps2 up and going again by doing this.

its got a magnet in it. try it, and if it doesnt work, figure out what brand media you are using.

it works for some and doesn't work for others. Thats why i recommend ritek or verbatim since they almost always work.

ok, I'm going to try playing with the top open and the little white disk directly on the DVD, but how am I suppoed to stop the game when I want to take it out? and I don't want to play all my games with the top open, because I think only a couple games will make the grinding noise, so, is it safe to keep taking the white disk out of the flip-top wnever I need it? will it break?

it might break. Just try it once and see if the noise stops.

the white thing wont break, but the tabs that hold it in the fliptop might break if your not careful.

this same thing happened to me.

Here's how i fixed the problem:

I found out that the white disk i was putting on was actually upside down! (I was putting it so the side where u can c the magnet was down and it kept making a nouse whenever i put the white disk on (my fliptop didnt have a clip to hold the white disk). Then i turned it the other way ( with the side where u can c the magnet facing up) and the problem was fixed - the sounds went away!!!

I know for a fact that it is not upside down. I'm just scared of something breaking if I keep taking the white thing out of the flip-top.
