I purchased a USB cable for my v220 and when I plugged it in and the computer found new hardware, it isn't charging my phone like it said it would. Do I need the software before it will do anything? All the links supplied have not worked. Please help.

your specific cable indicates on the package that it will also charge your phone? It should charge your phone as soon as you plug it in, no software needed. As far as I know, you only need software to use the cable as a data cable. But it still may matter which USB port you have it plugged into. Is the cable plugged into a NON-powered USB hub? It most likely won't work if so. Also, if this is a desktop, try a rear USB port if you haven't already.

If none of these work, and you're sure this cable is supposed to charge your phone, then it's time to take it back and exchange it or obtain a refund.
