use PS2 without a cd drive

    hi i was just wondering if it will be possible to modd a ps2 without usign the cd drive as the cd drive is broken and i was gonna mod it anyway. i thought along the lines of a hdd like in the xbox but im a bit fuzzy on the ps2 side of things.

    you have to spend the money to get one of the top three modchips (matrix infinity greendot, dms4, crystal chip 2.0). you can use a hdd, but if you have a slim ps2, you're stuck with a usb hdd, and they're slow due to the ps2 usb1.1 connection.

    fat ps2 needs a network adapter and a IDE hdd.

    as for launching the games, you'd need a hdloader (fat) or usbadvanced(slim) elf, which can be found at sksapps.com.
