Does anyone have a tutorial on making a dvd or cd backup of a game using a mac? Or, if you have a modchip in your ps2 do you just need to make a copy of it and it will work? or do you need something more than that?

just make a copy of it and it should work (assuming you have modchip)

cut and paste from oner's backup guide

Using Toast Titanium 5.01 or 5.02 for Mac

    1. Start Toast
    2. Select Image Copy
    3. Insert DVD title
    4. Save as Image
    5. Record Image (Use Burnproof if needed)

    OR

    1. Start Toast
    2. Select Image Copy
    3. Insert DVD title
    4. Click on Record
    5. It will ask for a blank DVD-R when it’s ready (Use Burnproof if needed)

    5. Intersect DVD-R
    6. Press Record Disc, always use Burnproof, why would you not use it.

Sorry, Im totally new to all of this and I dont even have my modded PS2 yet so i can't test any of it out. But, as for the fact that some games are cd and some are dvd, is there a way to know? Will it say it on the game? I guess I can always just find out how big all the files are and if its more than 700 its obviously a dvd...right?

just look on the back of the case, if it says CD-ROM its a cd. if it says DVD-ROM its a DVD. occasionally you may run into a dual layer that holds 9 gigs of data (GTA:SA for example). these cannot be copied unless you have a dual layer DVD burner or are pretty talented with your computer.

Actually, i am getting a dual layer burner from lacie. I wonder if a simple copy click would work. I wonder if Toast 6 even has DL support.

THANK YOU!!!!!! This post is a huge help! I have Toast 6 and the previous instructions I found were only for Toast 5. (I was confused when I couldn't select "image copy")

I am wondering if you can save a game to your computer and then burn the saved file as opposed to making a straight copy? If so, what setting do u choose in Toast; Data? Copy-> Image file?

Right now I want to burn a CD based game; If it was a DVD based game I would try "Data"->"DVD-ROM", as it is CD based I'm not sure what to try.

    Thanks in advance
    Dr Clark

yeah, youll need a mod chip. I have a chip (infinity matrix) in mine and all I do is hit "copy" in Toast and it burns a perfect working copy...never had a problem with it. Just make sure to durn it at a slow speed, I dont think any of the chips/lasers do well with high speed.

I also have a mac and use the swap disk 3 and its been flawless for the most part. No mod chip. Now has anyone tried the memory card exploit on a mac and had success?

i2k since you got the flop top and it works for you do you think my friend just needs to get a swap disk? He may have a old one i think. I'll ask him when he got it.
