Using PS3 to play .iso movies from portable HD

    Is it possible to take my portable HD and use one of the usb ports and watch .iso movie files directly from that HD?

    not a .iso, and MPEG movie will work tho!

    Well actually, you could install Linux then a program to mount it and one to watch it, or if the PS3 Linux doesnt have that, run a windows emulator and mount and watch with that. Or you can just download a program and convert it to MPEG format.

    It would be alot eaiser to just conver the movies, like weirdname said!

    If you've got Linux on your system, however, I'd recomend using VLC media player. It can play iso's as well as various other video formats (pretty much all of them.)

    If you don't have linux, then just use some conversion software.

    That program is really good for video(its like it can play anything regardless of codec). I recommend Foobar for audio.
