VCD won't play on my comp.

I just reformatted my hd and reinstalled win2k. But now after I burn a vcd, 'quick vcd' can't play the .dat file. I get an unsupported file format. I know it should work, cause I used to play them with 'quick vcd' after I burned them to check and make sure it was a good burn.

I've looked for other players that should play vcd's, but all use win media's engine, and none will work. I get the same error.

Does anyone know how I can fix this or even if someone knows of a player that can play a .dat file and is a complete program and isn't just an add-on to win media player.
    Thanx
