vhs onto computer

    I have recently got some rare music concerts on vhs and i would like to get them onto my computer so i can create vcds or divx files. Can anyone tell me what software and hardware i would need.

    Start with a video capture card. There are links on this site to help you choose one. You'd connect an rca cable from your vcr to the video capture card in your pc, that would create an .mpg file. If your card has video out you can play back to your tv, otherwise you'd be viewing it on your pc. If you want to convert to DVD, you need a dvd burner. The Sony DRU500AX is probably the best for the money. It comes with Sonic myDVD which will convert the mpg into a DVD and burn it. I added on Nero Burning ROM and the mpg/DVD plug in ($20 more), with better results (www.nero.com).
