I was just looking at purchasing a video capture card, there is one that is just a firewire socket that I would have to hook up my vcr to my camcaorder and go through it to my PC. Or there is another with RCA and S video in that I could just hook the vcr directly up PC and burn to dvd.
I have heard though that if you go through your camcorder it will provide better quality.
Is this true or should I just get the one that hooks up direct?

I appreciate the tips and info.
    Thanks

The best quality is with a TBC such as a Canopus ADVC-110.
This would use the camcorder as a passthrough from the VCR to the PC via firewire.
