I have found my way to this site and see it as my saviour.

I am a complete novice who would like to learn how to copy my old home movies(VHS) to something more up to date. I have a machine with a TV card in and a DVD burner. I also have a "Firewall" connection, I'm told this is good!!!

There now you have it. Who is up to the challenge?

What other hardware do I need. What software is required (I read that VIRTUALDUB might do the trick) - No big words or jargon please - there I told you it was a challenge!!!!

    Many thanks in advance

Use the software that came with your card first.
    Capture something from TV.
Encoding it with VSO Divx to DVD (free program), then burn the result to DVD.
If that works, then you can read through all the other posts in this same forum about VHS to DVD, in which, most of the same stuff applies, whether capturing from VHS or TV.
