So sometime in Auguest i bought a AGP Gforce 7800 GS OC 256 DDR3 video card But now it says i have a Geforce 6600 LS.. How can i fix this??
what is it that says ita a 6600? have you upgraded your drivers since fitting the new card? has it made it perform any worse? latest stable driver, http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_93.71.html
well when i go to my videocard settings it says i havea 6600 installed i have updated my drivers heres a screenshot of it i do feel a lil different when i used to have it as 7800 till now
Check the name is correct in the Device Manager. Look for display adapters to check the card's name and/or the device's name in the DirectX Diag Tool(you can open it from 'Run:' typing 'dxdiag' without the '' and hitting Enter). You will see several tabs. Click on Display to see the card's description. I believe this can tell us if the card is being recognized appropiately by the system, and if the name showing incorrectly in the Nview properties is a problem with the card's software. Anyhow, I would suggest uninstalling the card's drivers from safe mode followed by updated drivers ofcourse. G luck and hope it helps.
try downloading this and see what this says, this will read all the info in the card itself everything down to the version of its bios. if it comes back as a 6600 ls i would be forced to have a good look at the card and see if it is what it says or what it was sold to you as. have to be honest its a puzzler to me. could someone have stole your card and swapped it? edit fixxed link
yea this is very weired..unless they gave me a default card that was pretending to be a 7800 witha 6600 chip ima see what i can do as for the riva turner it said 6600 LS still thx for yalls help tho
MoMurda Please post the solution or workaround once you get it so that we can all know what happened. OK? Take care. P3ace
