    Very Newbie
I had a 8mm tape converted to a DVD and it's under a Video_TS or I guess a VOB file. I have Premier Pro and would like to know how (please step by step) to convert the video so I can Import it to Pro? I only have 2 of these DVDs to edit so I really don't want to buy a program to do this because after I'm done with these DVDs I'm done. After that I'll be using my digital camcorder for future movies to edit in Pro. I do have Nero6 that I got with my Sony DVD-RW player that I installed. Really need something easy so I can get started learning Pro.(that's another story) I've tried a few of them xmpeg, etc, but must be doing something wrong? I did get it into Movie Maker once to edit but had all kinds of trouble, didn't turn out it was really blurring. Please help!
    Thanks again

you COULD rename the dvd files to .mpg, but in order to edit them in premiere, you need a REALLY fast computer to edit mpeg2 files in premiere. an easier option would be to follow one of our guides on converting DVDs to video CDs (mpeg1). start out by trying tmpgenc. you can then import mpeg1 files into premiere and easily edit them.
