Viewing digital camcorder recordings on a laptop

    Is it possible to view digital camcorder recordings on a laptop,without downloading,as can be done on a television?A lot of the quality seems to be lost by downloading.

    You mean just play the output of the video camera on the laptop screen? Not on most laptop computers... most are going to require you to capture (that's the term, not 'download') the video onto the laptop's hard drive.

    One thing you can do is fire up Windows Movie Maker (or something similar) on the laptop and put it in capture mode but don't actually capture. In some cases that will allow you to watch the output of the camera in a window on the laptop screen in realtime.
