I have some issues with my Windows Vista when ever I click to check for updates it just keeps saying "Checking for updates" the green progress bar moves but the screen doesn't change?

I just re-installed my Vista since I had some hardware problems.

It may just take a longer time if your upgrading from XP due to the fact that your hardware u have is not Vista hardware but it may just take awhile to find the hardware unless u go to device manager and see how many yellow exclamation marks you have and then just right click on that abbd hit update on the menu and make sure your connected to the net so it does the searches for you.

Try that and then try windows update next.

Thanks for the tips just updated all mys sofware,

My hardware is compatible with Vista and I got no problems with any software in the hardware manager but it still doesn't work.

Any other way to update Vista?

the only other way that comes to mind is maybe try to go to the Microsoft website manually and find where u can update the new updates by just clicking on them.
