Hello i just bought a panasonic mini dvd camcorder and the more i read on the more i am second guessing myself. They seem to be hard to use I have a rca 8mm that the tapes have lasted for 15 years and some reading that i have done says dvd is more acceptable to damage and they don't last that long, I mainly use this for home movies can someone please give me some advise Thanks in advance

There is nothing wrong with your purchase. It is a matter of personal preference. I prefer the miniDV cameras, because the tape still can't be beat for video quality.

Indeed, DVD's are more susceptble for damage. If you have precious recordings I certainly recommend to make an extra back-up. Just make an extra of the DVD and you should be safe.
