Tar is short for "tape archive" and is a file archive format found on Unix/Linux operating systems. What kind of games are these? It would be surprising to find games for the Windows OS packaged with them.

Hey we think alike Zippy :-0
    Thats scary!!!

TAR files are generally not compressed; simply added together into a single file. Most programs that will handle .ZIP or other archive formats will also handle .TAR files.

That is from the sight Zippy mentioned above :)

How can I extract a tar.gz or .tgz file?
Files with extension tar.gz or .tgz are [bold]tar files compressed with gzip[/bold]. On Unix extract them with:
    gunzip < file.tar.gz | tar xvf -
    gunzip < file.tgz | tar xvf -

Sigh, must stopping bringing my work home with me :)
