Not to put a dampener on your spirits or enthusiam but D3/HL2 will easily test your platform. Even when I swap in a GFX5950 I still get my rig owned (on the order of negative framerates) heehee .... not to mention the sheer quantity of memory used :p (i.e., 800MB before the damn game even loads up) -- i still get memory crashes when i shock in an extra half-gig. :p .... 'course the games arent stable yet :p

    Im workin with:

    AMD 2200+ B @ 1800 Oc'ed to 1900
    Biostar KT266 Mobo
1024 Mb PC2100 Generic DDR RAM (low density)
    Geoforce FX 5900 XT 128Mb
80 Gig Hd(5200 rpm) and 10 Gig (no specs)

I dont know what else I should look to upgrade...any suggestions...my mobo maybe...it only supports DDR PC2100 which is a bust...but my games run flawless with current configuration with maxed out settings on 1024 res. I have been told that generic brands suck...works good me...and cheap as hell too... cant beat that...question: How will buying a new monitor affect gaming and ecetera. My current monitor is an old a** Compaq that only gets up to 72Mhz Ref rate at 1024 res. Thinking about getting a flat screen off ebay for 180...any suggestions...?

That would scare the hell out of me, personally. It'll probably have 50 dead pixels and get shipped in a box half stuffed with newspaper.

I'm a CRT die hard - [bold]for the same money[/bold] you get, better color, higher refresh and more screen size. Any flat screen for $180 is going to have a crappy refresh rate that's going to suck for gaming.

I'd put my money into a bigger, faster hard drive with an 8MB cache - you should see a nice improvement.

Here'a a kick ass 17" Mitsubishi aperture grille flat screen CRT for $162 and $20 to ship. I built my last two PCs through these guys and they are awesome.

I've been saving my pennies so in another two months I can get the NEC/Mitsubishi FE2111SB-BK 22" Diamondtron I've been lusting after for so long :)

Thanks for that feedback. Thought 180 bucks would be a steal on a LCD/Flat monitor, but, your probably right...Will just have to save those pennies up for something of quality. Im not looking for just the flat screen...but the whole monitor to be slim...Thanks anyway.
