    I know there's a bunch of FAQs on that, but I haven't been able to get a definite answer from them.
    So here are the stats of my PS2:

    8 screws on bottom
    no screw in expansion bay
    electric hazard stamp on bottom
    SCHP 30001R
    serial starts with U0
    date code - 1C

    I have a feeling that it's a Version 4, but the 30001R doesn't only shows in the list for V5/6 for a lot of the FAQs.
    Sorry if the answer is obvious, but I want to be sure about it.
    Thanks.

    How to identify PS2 (NTSC) console version

    Find the Model Number:

    * 30001 and 10 case screws = Versions 1 through 3
    o Serial Number U0 = Version 2
    o Serial Number U1 = Version 1
    o Serial Number U2 = Version 3
    * 30001 and 8 case screws = Versions 4
    * 30001R = Versions 4, 5 or 6 *see below*
    * 35001 = Version 4
    * 39001 = Version 7
    * 50001 = Version 9 or 10
