I have a modded xbox and i think its time for me to go the next step an install a 160 or 200 gig hdd. I believe i have the excuter 4983 bios but i am not sure if this will allow for large hdd's ? also whats a better choice 7200rpm or 5400rpm drives... I know the difference but i am not sure which one is best for the xbox since one produces more heat. Finally i have slayers 2.5 auto installer can i just pop in the big hdd when i have the correct bios and install it with little hassle with slayers?
Those BIOS or Evox M7 BIOS should do..and yes Slayers should do it for you. I hope you know you should back up certain stuff from your standard drive..but that's a whole nother matter. You should go with 5400 RPM, just as fast as 7200 RPM in your xbox, only they don't give off as much heat, i.e. SAFER.
yeah any of the latest bios supposts hard drive swapping bugger than 13o gigs. as long as you have any of the latest bios you should be ok.
7200rp hard disks are fine just do the 12v fan mod its not hard. xecuter 4981.67 BIOS will allow up to 300gigs
what is the difference between these 3 bios below? And which one would work better on a 250gb hdd box with Executer 2? xecuter 4981.67 Xecuter2.4983 M7 Bios - Evolution X
for the hard drive.. i would go with the 7200 ...5400 will be slow..7200 will load game faster and transfer faster than 5400. i have 200 gig with 7200 WD hd and has not over heat yet or showing any sign of heat...and i use x2 bio 4981
well i went with the 200 gig 7200 rpm and the drive loads everything super slow! whats up with that ? anyone ?
does any one knows what or how is "G" use for in Slayers 2.5? I tried placing xbox games in G but does't play them
I have switched the jumper to every setting and it only works on cable select. The thing is the hdd makes loud clicking noises and loads super slow, so i bet the hdd is just failing. Anyone else have an idea on why a hdd will load everyrthing slow?
hired, the hdd either is giving up or maybe needs to be defragmented. Try setting you jumper to Master. Slave tends to slow it down.
