Whats the quickest way to make a avi/mpg of a 5 min clip from full length dvd

    i want to use the simplest software available and the lest amount of software. But i was wondering what is the quickest and easist way to take a full length home made dvd and just get like 5 mins of the dvd and turn it into a mpeg or avi video?

    Assuming your dvd is not protected, the cheapest, as in 'free', would be to use DVD Shrink.

    Run Shrink, click 'Open Disc'.
    Click 'Reauthor', drag the file, 'Title 1' from right pane to left pane.
    Click on the 'Start/End Frames' symbol (two arrows, pointing right/left)and choose the section of movie that you need.
    Click 'Backup' and opt to save to a 'Hard Disk Folder'.
    After it has been saved,exit Shrink, open the saved folder, then the 'Video_TS' sub-folder and rename the large .vob file to .mpg you now have an mpeg file you can view with Windows Media Player to work with.
