iv been making backups of my DVD movies now for about a year and half. I use DVDShrink and sometimes DVDecrypter.

Anyway, my xbox broke and figure I would get a PS2 this time cuz it has a few games I want. Anyway, I did a "LITTLE" research and found I can make backups with DVDecrypter with a SIMPLE 2 step process (read--> write) and waalaaa, im done... but i need a chip installed first.

so im looking to buy a ps2 system with a chip already installed so all I have to do is use dvdecrypter software to make my backups....

does anyone know where i can go to find such a thing from a company i can TRUST???

whats the best mod chip?? i read somewhere that DMS4 is the newest/best

First site i would try for your answers is
    http://www.ps2ownz.com/
they have links to just about everything for modding your PS2, covers, swap disks, mod chips, and much more. I bought a few things off of the sites they have links to and never had a problem.

I know they sell the modded PSTwo (slim one) here
    http://www.modchip.ca/store/home.php?cat=265
But the $379 price tag is what is holding up me right now, thats a lot of cha-ching.

Go to the link i put up there for PS2OWNZ.com
They have plenty of mod sites with banners on there that have the flip tops and Swap Magic or slide cards.

That $290 is the cheapest i have seen for the new modded slim one. I would make sure they give some kind of warranty though, all the others i saw on the sites of PS2OWNZ.com came with 30 days, same as the one Sony gives you. I did not see anything on that one.

Carefull when modding your PS2. You had better know what your doing. I tried modding my 1st PS2 myself and I ended up kinda messing it up a little.

hey 87racing, will it load backups without having to use Swap Magic like some of the others i saw?
If so i think i will buy my next one there instead of where i was looking, they wanted $379 for the one i looked at but it would play anything from any region and boot back ups just like originals.

superstui, i see you have a Maxtor HD
How has it worked for you, some people told me that the small HD's for the PS2 were very unreliable and don't work that well and that i better do some research before i get one. Any of that true?

I am in love with it. My hd is 120 Gb and it will hold eh about 40-45 games. I wouldn't reccomend getting anything bigger then 120 Gb though. I still have plenty of space
