Hey guys... I'm back after a while and my cousin wanted to buy a burner so that he could burn XGD3 games. He found this Christmas offer on ebay (http://www.ebay.in/itm/CHRISTMAS-OF...620?pt=IN_CD_DVD_Drives_1&hash=item3f41ac7fe4) Would this drive be compatible with the payload tool? Haven't been able to find any info on "EU" iHas drives.

Another option for him would be this drive (http://www.ebay.in/itm/Liteon-24X-O...mory_Cards_Pen_Drives_HDD&hash=item3a9dffe830)

But although the title says "iHas122", the Model ID in the product description says "iHas124". I don't know what that's all about.

    Thanks in advance :)

Seriously? You still haven't decided which burner to buy? Not much has changed since you last asked that question, around a year ago or so. Get a Sony Optiarc AD-5280S.

No, it's for my cousin... I'm thinking of going for an HP 1260i... Would that be ok?

Damn, you still undecided on burner after all them posts with questions awhile back. Get the one that Eisherz mentioned. It doesn't need payload tool to burn full disc.

No no... my cousin wants a burner, not me.

I would ask him get a sony optiarc but it costs about 4 times that of an hp 1260i drive. Besides, I don't see any hasssle with using the payload tool, he just has to download it and enable it on the drive, right? Is not having to go through using payload tool worth spending the extra money?

With regards to the HP 1260i, is there any particular reason that you don't recommend it? Is it broken or something?

Thanks... The compatibility list on the website I was looking at didn't have specifics with regard to revision models (ixtreme.net) which is why I posted in here. I'll enquire about the revision model of the HP 1260i drive and act accordingly

Just curious here, do you currently have a DVD burner? If so, have you tried the payload tool with it? I only ask because the burner in my Laptop isn't on the compatible list but, payload does work with it.

My laptop burner worked with payload but didn't produce working burns so I guess we can't be sure that a drive will produce good burns just because it works with payload

Ok so here's a list of Sony Optiarc drives that eBay shows me: http://geb.ebay.in/g/ImportHubSearc...-cb&catId=&qbtn=Search&_trksid=p2052119.l1440

Are they all the same, and can I just go for the lowest priced drive?

Also, would you have any knowledge about this drive:

There's a comment that says it's decent for XGD3 games. And there's a tutorial to using it for burning XGD3 games too:
