i have a v4 ps2 and an *outdated* neo 2.2. i need a chip that will direct-boot [bold]everything[/bold] (maybe DVD9s, do i really need that?). i like the dms3 because of its firmware upgrade feature, but it is a little steep. im not sure what i should get, there are just too many! can you guys help me narrow it down?

how does the magic 3.1 compare to it? the prices are VASTLY different and i could get a magic 3.1 installed for around $70 (from jeffmods). i do like the upgradability of the dms3 though, but for $40-$50?

I'd say go with the DMS3. It is the only modchip which let's you use ANY regular internal computer hard drive as a PS2 hard drive. Plus, the upgrade feature is cool too.

if you just lpay games thats it, you might as well go for a simple chip like the DUO, with the duo you can but it in sleep mode if you wany to go on line with your original games

The magic 3.1 doesn't perform nearly as well as the dms3. It's not as efficient and sometimes won't boot games for some odd reasons. Not that it's a bad chip but if you can go with the dms3.

the dms3 cost an arm and a leg, and most gamers won't use most of of it's features
