I'm bulding a home theater PC and I need a dvd rom drive for the unit that I can easily remove the region code from. I've heard there are some units that can be flashed to disable this. I'd rather go this route than using some flaky software or having to physically modify the drive. This drive just needs to play movies nicely, no other real requirements and I assume most drives do that equally well.
Pioneer DVD-120 - it has an RPC1 (Region free) firmware up date. You can get the update from the site in my signature below:
