Which is better, watching movies from the dvds directly or copy to the HD and watching form there?

    When i want to watch a dvd movie, i can see it directly from the disc,or first copy it to the hard drive and then watch it from there. i want to know which way will do less harm to my computer? Any help will be appreciated

    Are you going to watch the movie more than once? Ripping a movie to the HD requires just as much, if not more use of your optical drive...Probably more wear and tear because no one rips in 'real time'. But seriously
    what did you buy the computer for, if not to use it...
