I'm defintely purchasing a PS2 mod from the affiliate website and I wanted to know everyones outtakes on the ones I have chosen between.

    PS2 GAME ENHANCER SET
    http://www.easybuy2000.com/store/playstation II/game enhancer.shtml

    or

    The Basic... Swap magic
    http://www.easybuy2000.com/store/playstation II/magic boot.shtml

I have read up on both products and seeing as tho I don't think I trust myself with the whole soldering, but do think that I can manage the flip-top technique.

I currently am also wondering are both these compatible with DVD+R or DVD-R only?

Also, for people that have either or know anyone with the product if you could give me some basic personal knowledge, that'd be great.

    Thanks.

$15 more for the slide card is a HUGE ripoff. For the same price you can get a fliptop (which is a lot easier to use). Plus, its the old version of swap magic. I'd use http://www.consolesource.com

Alright, I was checking out that site you gave me and I have a version 7 ps2 so I think my best would be the:
    http://www.consolesource.com/ecomm/customer/product.php?productid=2092&cat=4&page=1

I'm new to the whole modding scene so I don't really want to risk anything and just go with something external instead of the soldering. Is this my best choice or do you think there is another one better?

Also, to get this straight...I can borrow a game from my friend, rip it with the standard programs, and then used the rip copy to run the game? Or do I need the original copy of the game still?
Lastly, is this compatible with DVD+R or DVD-R only?

    Thanks for the help again.

Thats what i have, and i love it. You don't need the original game, just your burnt copy (try not to let everyone know your borrowing the games though). Also -r and +r should work fine for you.

no problem. Just be careful when you pull the original top off so you don't break the eject/reset button ribbon.

Yeah i remember that, i accidentally pulled the little ribon right out when i was messing around in there. I put it back together and tried to eject and got nothing. Oh well, now i know where they all go and how to re-attach them. Lesson learned...be careful.
