    Recently I purchased an LG GC 45 21B 2G DVD ROM ;
    Which player/MPG2 decoder do you recommend me to download and install in order to watch DVDs ?
    Will DVDs run on windows 98 ?
    (it seems all literature concerning that matter is dedicated to Windows XP ?!);
    Cheers

    Most dvd's you buy or rent usually have a player software on the dvd. The most common one is Interactual Player.(Not sure if its spelled right) Its not a great player, but will let you watch the dvd just fine. At dvd start-up it will ask if you want to install the player, just click yes.

    Jerry746 this is ok as a stop gap but if you are working with windows 98 you may as well have the best for it.Take power dvd which is the best.It may not be free but you will get the best results with windows 98.I still use it on xp and by the way windows 98 is great oprating system i used it for years.It can still work well with most updated programes in 2004 which tells you how good it is.

    Thats what I was giving him, a free way to watch a dvd. I have both Power dvd and Windvd. I always use Windvd. But if all someone wants to do is watch a dvd movie, just use the default player. Nothing fancy about it but it works fine.

    Hello
    I followed your directions and downloaded PowerDVD 5
    (I was obliged to update the directX) , installed it ;
    As I tried to play a DVD I´ve got powerdvd crash :

    invalid instruction message :

    POWERDVD executou uma instrução inválida no

    (Another problem with Power DVD is the cost )

    I downloaded Windows Media Player 9, thinking that
    it would play DVDs by itself ; then I got fed up
    by the 2nd time because... .... as per its Help :
    To play DVDs, you must have a DVD-ROM drive, and a software or hardware DVD decoder installed on your computer.
    The question is : what mpg2 decoder I can have in order to work with Windows MEdia player 9 and play DVDs ?
    Thank you for your posts ;
    RW
