why are my burntimes so slow?

    i've a sony dw-g120a but am having trouble with very slow burn speeds. i set the write speed to 4 or 8x but it only burns at a max of 1.2x! any idewas why? could it be because its on a ide channell as a slave?

    welly59,,first what type and brand of disc are you using to burn? some brand may not compatible with your device..have you try different brand yet??

    i sorted it now guys. i unplugged the master device on the ide channel and put the burner as master and now it works lovely :)
