    Firstly, click on this link, courtesy of MAINAMN;
    http://my.afterdawn.com/mainamn/
On the left side click on the link for clone or genuine starview info. It is important to know whether we are dealing with a clone or genuine. Secondly, press MENU, go down to System Information, and press OK. What API does it say you are running.
It sounds like you have version 3, which has this problem, but we need to know if your box is clone or genuine

Ok , to check if you have a clone or genuine box , count the vents on top , 18x7 is a clone and 25x7 is a genuine

To update a Genuine SV , you will need 3 things first .

    1. A Null Modem Cable (9 pin female to 9 pin female)
    2. GT Rom Loader (Software)
    3. V4 .bin file (Firmware)

Number 1 , either you got it with your SV or you will have to buy it
Number 2 and 3 can be downloaded below , thanks to Eamo.
    Eamo's SV Library
    http://eko.4shared.com/

    Updating Firmware

Connect your box and PC with a Null modem cable and switch on the cable box and put it on STANDBY.
(The Starview does not need to be connected to TV to update it with GTROM)

Open GTROM Loader software make sure that you set the correct COM PORT
that matches the one that is being used

Make sure App file only is selected, then click Bin File & browse to the firmware where you downloaded
    it to on your PC.

Run the GTROM loader by pressing Download and you will see the % progress increase
then Download completed message on your PC.
Wait until you see the DOWNLOAD COMPLETE pop up on your PC before
removing the NULL MODEM CABLE. The Starview will then reboot

Turn off and pulg your tv cable and scart back in
