I,m having a problem making a Dvd out of a widescreen video file i have.It is in widescreen, but when i try to convert it in nerovision it goes to fullscreen and the center of the picture is stretched.
    The video file is 700mb
    XviD Mpeg4 codec video compression
    23.796 frames/second framerate
    1061 kbps bitrate
    720 pixels width
    288 pixels hieght

It is a gorgeous widescreen print but when nero converts it to dvd it looks as if it puts both hands on either side of the picture and squeezes it to the center.
Any help would be greatly welcomed. It appears i may have to re-encode the file. But not sure.A friend of mine has a program called AVS video converter, but it too does the same to the picture when converting to dvd files.
Thank You very much for any help.

try ConvertXToDVD ........ try it for free...... leaves a watermark logo on it but if it works then you know it could be Nero being buggy! what version of Nero do you have?

Thanks for the advice, i will try the program

as far as i can tell i'm using Nero 6.6.0.15

    with Nerovision Express 3.1.0.14 {this all came as a bundle}
up till this point it worked fine with other video files.Maybe something to do with the way this one is encoded.

Can't figure out why it wants to take a widescreen video and make it full screen.
I'll try several different programs till i get it right.
    Thanks again

why are you using nero? open the avi in virtual dub and click on file then save wav. then close it and open it in tmpgenc. choose the avi and then the wav you made and a name and place to save it. click on load and choose the format you want. then click on settings and then at bottom motion precision search - choose high quality. these softwares are free. or buy Tmpeg express 4.

I've been using Nero a long time and it does work great.... I have what is considered the most stable version of Nero 6 (6.6.0.18) this is what I would do:

Before udating to 6.6.0.18 I would save the serial #, uninstall Nero, then use the cleaning tools : http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/eng/Clean_Tools.html
then do a registry clean up(free registry cleaner, CClean: http://www.ccleaner.com/download/downloadpage.aspx?1) and defrag...... then reboot!

    install package one:
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_burning_rom/?539

    then install package two:
    http://www.nero.com/nero6/eng/Patch_for_NVE3.html
reboot and you're good to go!

also I would use better media. Stick with the MIJ rule (Made In Japan). Look for the MIJ on the label of the box of spindle (Taiyo Yuden, Sony, Maxell, and some Fuji)... the only exception to this rule is Verbatim, which is top notch media but made in Taiwan/Singapore and the only non MIJs I will use.

try this out and see if you can follow this guide and hope that your AVI comes out perfect, it should:

Let me know how you make out!
