My PS2 wont read DVD-R's. This is what the guy that installed it said:

I adjusted the laser lens on the system but it will only read original discs. No CD-r no DVD-r. Even w/ the chip out it would not read any DVD-r movies that I have backed up. they work on every DVD player in the house and on every PS2 in the place but yours. This is said to be a trait in the new V.8 systems but they only came out in Japan I thought. I did alot of research and I found out that this is rare but it happens. Its not really a V.8 but it has the same DVD controller set up. Since the bios is not the same as the real V.8 systems all the new chips that are supposed to work on V.8 consoles do not work. I put in a messiah 2 pro 1.30 and a DMS3 2.0 and still no good

Has anyone else run into this? or found a way to fix this? Think the DMS3 2.0 people will find a way around this?
