I purchased a Wii in the UK as soon as they came out, however I have stopped myself connecting this up to the internet just in case their was a weakness found in the shipped software release which allowed it to play homebrew iso's etc... Similar to what happened with the PSP and firmware 1.5

Anyway, since there are many mod chip out now and no firmware hacks, would you say that I am ok to connected to the net, load the latest software and get the functionality that I have been missing, like opera etc..

It looks like Wiikey is the best mod chip, is this the majority of peoples feelings? As I said I am in the UK and want to be able to play "backups" of my games..

    Any advise is much appreciated.

i've used wiikey and original wiinja and the wiikey is much better.

as far as going online, there are no known problems right now with applying nintendo patches on a modded wii.
