Well, I just found out the hard way that my Japanese wii remote will not work with my US system. Why this is, I have no idea. Well, I know that it is because of differences in the wireless receiver bar, but I have no idea WHY they (Nintendo) would DO this! I can't imagine that wireless standards between the two countries could be all that different.

I must also say, that my GC memory card and Wavebird (both Japanese, being played on a US Wii) work flawlessly. I am sick and tired with having to guess what will work with what... there is no rhyme or reason to what Nintendo is doing. They need to get their act together!

Oh, and I had to find this out AFTER opening the controller. So, no returns. Now I am stuck with a controller that I can't use, and am going to have to take a hit on it. I didn't see anything on the package that says for use only in Japan. Then again, I was kind of in a hurry to use it, so perhaps it is written somewhere.

    Still, they SHOULD be interchangeable!

Have you used the Sync buttons on the Wii and Mote?

Yeah, definitely. Neither of the syncs work. Come to find out (after I opened the controller), there is a notice about something to do with the sensor bar. I can't remember what it pertained to, but the bottom line is, Nintendo listed both a Japan sensor bar and a USA sensor bar. In other words, there are two different sensor bars, and the controllers obviously don't work between the different region models. Oh well, there are always online auctions...
