I did install wiikey inside wii, but not sure if it is perfect. I have a lot of dvd-r but all is in low quality ($15 for 75 DVD-Rs), burning in limit to 2x.
I thought it might cause why low quality dvd-r doesn't work on wii??

I actually found that Ritek worked great on one of my Ps2's, and the other media i was using didn't work at all. Then on my other Ps2 the ritek media didn't work as good as the other media I was using.. Seems to depend on the laser what media it likes (especially in the Ps2's case since it has a crappy laser. )

I will probably try out Ritek on my Wii though.

Oh, and yes the media is the most likely reason for it not reading the dvd-r's..

I have been having a few problems. Nothing major. I've been doing GC backups and I've been using Memorex DVD+R discs and they worked fine.

I tried some HP Lightscribe discs so my backups would look nice and could put decent labels on them. Alas, it would not boot. I think it's the lightscribe barcode on the discs in my case. I'm going to try out a Verbatim DVD+R tonight.

Anyone else tried the lightscribe discs on their Wii?

you will have more success with DVD-R's instead of "+" This is a proven fact. I use Ridata with great results.

I have been using TDK DVD-R's, and they work fine. However, i put some games on a DVD+R, and they won't boot. However, i give them to a friend and it works on his. Anyone have any suggestions?

I used Memorex 16x DVD+R media and they work fine. I burn @ 4x (I tried burning max, but get some game errors) and they work without any problems. The Wii is rather quiet too, so the lens is not working overtime or anything.

My Wii is modded with a Wii Key.

We're both using the wiikey. It's not a huge problem for me since i can just use a dvd-r to burn the games onto.
