You're getting a Digital Rights Management Error (DRM), or it seems so from a quick scan without checking codes. Below is one of the more important sections of the log. Is your problem only with this disk? Also, are you using AnyDVD or similar decryption for this copy? You can get the trial at http://www.slysoft.com/ . It works for video and audio copy protection.

This needs to be in an audio section or the Nero forum. You may want to get a mod to move it. It's definitely not anything to do with DVD Shrink. ;)

This should really be in the Nero forum, a mod can move it for you, but here's my take on this problem with some suggestions.

    Nero API version: 7.7.5.1
    Using interface version: 6.3.1.4

Here it looks like you installed nero7 over your nero6 install, you should really uninstall older versions of nero before current ones are installed to avoid software glitches. I suggest you completely uninstall nero from your PC using the "general-clean tool", just unzip and run the tool to remove nero.

    General clean tool
    http://www.nero.com/nero7/enu/General_CleanTool.html

Once done, reinstall nero7 version 7751

    Recorder: <LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1633S>Version: BS0Y

Your burner's firmware is upto date, so you're ok there :)

    Recorder: LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1633S, Media type: DVD-R
Disc Manufacturer: VDSPMS - AB 01

I don't recognize these disks and by the looks of your log, neither does your burner, as seen here:

    Media Specific [16..63]:
    00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................
    00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................
    00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................

    and here

    CdRom0: SCSIStatus(x02) WinError(0) NeroError(-1135)
    Sense Key: 0x03 (KEY_MEDIUM_ERROR)

Since your burner's firmware is current, the only suggestion I have is to try a different disk manufacturer like [bold]Sony or Verbatim[/bold]. The burn failed because of the media/disks you're using, the burner doesn't have the correct write strategy for those disks so some will burn fine and others won't. Use something the burner can write to consistantly (ie..has a write strategy for) and all will be well.

One last thing, here in the log:

    File 'Drivers\CDRALW2K.SYS': Ver=8.0.0.212 , size=2560 bytes, created 8/19/2005 12:00:00 PM

This indicates that you may of or have Roxio installed on your system along with nero?? This should be ok if you don't have both of their packet writing software installed as well (drag to disk or INCD), but try and keep only one of these apps installed to avoid any conflicts.

    Cheers;)

Any packet writing software can be bad news for recording software since it tries to keep control of the burner drive. InCD doesn't turn off, so it has to be removed or not installed. Drag to Disc can be turned off. However some of the Roxio drivers can interfere with other software and on some systems it has to be removed entirely. It varies from system to system. Roxizap is available for cleanup if all of Roxio ever needs to be cleaned up.

The media is definitely a problem and usually carries an Interaxia manufacturer code. Interaxia supposedly sublets manufacturing to "no name" media manufacturers. Lots of complaints have been made about the media.

Since the thread hasn't been moved and johnl123 thought it was a good idea to help you out here on the Shrink forum, you may want to go ahead and follow his advice. If you loaded over an older version of Nero (or not) you need to clean up and do a clean install to get your software straightened out. Get some good name brand media and try your recording again. If it doesn't work some additional information might be in order, such as what DVD are you trying to record and is there any software involved other than Nero's burning ROM. Once you get your software reloaded and burn to some good media, let us know how it comes out. Good luck.

I currently have nero 7 and Roxio 8, and have used them both on the same PC without any issues, but nero's INCD was never installed (you do have that option when installing nero) and drag to disk was only used/enabled when needed. If INCD was installed, it can be uninstalled using the INCD clean tool which will remove associated files.

    http://www.nero.com/nero7/enu/InCD_CleanTool.html

I usually don't recommend having both nero and roxio installed at the same time (if one does, choose the packet writing app you like and use it only), but install one and learn it well.

I couldn't find any info on those disks, but they appear to be the problem. I'm sure the problem will be solved when better media is used.

I've had Nero and Roxio loaded at the same time in the past and I currently have Nero 7. They played well together on my system. I liked the Roxio for handling audio recordings. Thanks for the pointer on InCD, but I noticed in the setup of the older Nero versions (and the newer ones) that InCD can be left out of the installation. In fact the last time I loaded it, I noticed InCD had to be selected if I wanted it. With both Roxio and Nero, the choice of packet writing software should be easy, Drag to Disc since it can be turned off. It's best to be in the habit of leaving it off and only turning it on when needed. InCD is a known problem for DVD video recording, so unless a person likes living with a known problem ready to act up, then it's best to leave it out of the install.

As for the media, it can be tracked by the ID: VDSPMS - AB 01 (AB 01 is 4X and AB 02 is 8X). If I'm not mistaken, this is a 4X and not likely to be a big problem in the future. This problem follows the old story, buy the cheapest media available and then wonder why it doesn't work right. Some people have been able to burn them at 2X and cut back on content to about 4.2GB to keep from writing near the edge. Most of the major forums, including AD have threads discussing problems with the Interaxia media. Much of the trouble reported has been in the European and Canadian markets. Brands it's been sold under include Emtec; Matsu; Premiumline http://www.pmteurope.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=1002 ; GigaMaster; Prodye Video Gold 4x; Kodak 4X DVD-R, CAT #55100, Made in India, Distributed by KMP Media Inc., Canada; and Sky Media DVD-R 4x at Media Market in Germany. Not many stores or online vendors carry much 4X nowadays and if they do it should be suspect unless a name brand and manufacturer (most of which was sold off a long time ago).

Hi I've tried everything that you suggested, except the new medida, I guess I will try that tomorrow. Thanks, hopefully that will work.
