Question Will the new 360s work with the x360Key?

I had a 360 a few years back...until some jerk stole it. Fortunately I still got the discs, so all is good, now it's off to purchase a new console. The only problem is I want to be able to play the games from a USB drive because of better load times, easier sorting, and not having to get the discs out of storage whenever I want to play a game. The thing is though I'm several years behind (thanks to the PS3 and WOW), and I would like to get caught up on the latest information.

The system I'm currently looking at are the newer models from Wal*mart preferably this one because blue is my favorite color.

The thing is I don't know if this is a Slim or a Phat version. Since the USB adapter I'm going to be using is a x360Key (that is a good one, isn't it?) I want to make sure it will work with the intended console. If I get these two items will they work together, or will I have to resort to getting an older model? Also, when ordering from Modchipcentral, what is with the install option? If this is a solderless solution what are they doing? What does the drive have to do with using a USB loader, and why is the 1175 liteon installation so expensive? If I get the newer system can't I just slap a BenQ drive in, and go from there?

Your better off with an older slim or "phat" console if your planning to use a x3key or similar to run your games off a HDD.You need to have the dvd key dumped and installed onto the device to pair the console up otherwise it will not work.It is a solderless solution but still requires this process to work. The reason they charge more for the install option is they have to go through this process for you.Not sure why It becomes more more expensive with the 1175 other than the slim is harder to open up or they flash the dvd onto a unlocked pcb replacement and you get to keep it (Doubt it very much!).

So basically a 360 Elite then, correct (the 360 is going into the office, so a HDMI connection is a must)? I think that was the model of my old one...although why won't a 360 E work as well? Is it because the firmware (dashboard) is too recent, or is it the motherboard? I think you can JTAG or RGH the 360 E, but since I can't solder, that's out of the question.

The 360E will most likely have a d5s drive. This means having to jtag to acquire the dvd key (soldering !) and buying a unlocked pcb to flash the firmware to it if you go down the disc backup route.Go for an elite model if you can get one cheap. If you are using a service which will flash the dvd key to the emulator your buying they only require the dvd drive from the elite. So it might be an idea to open up the console yourself for the dvd drive to be shipped off.It does need a few specialised tools if you don't want to do a hack job but it will be cheaper in the long run for postage costs.

Looked over my available options, and I think I still have the tools on hand from the last time I worked on the BenQ drive, so I might be able to do it on my own like last time. Now all I got to do is figure out which USB loader to get. Don't know what the difference between the x360key, and the xkey reloaded is. I mean, other than being newer, and being smaller, what's the difference in function between the two? Also what's with the Xecuter X360 USB Pro v2? Looks a little out of date to me. :/

Here are some links to save time.

Also thanks for the help. It's depressing that I'm going back to and older console, but then again, what works works. I'm going with a new unit though because I don't want to get the RROD, and I'm putting a fan on the back of this thing to try and keep the temperatures down.

The Xecuter is no loader, it's the set of tools you need for getting the key and/or flashing the drive.
    For the rest, I don't know, I don't like the Xk3y, so I didn't follow that devellopment.

The older one? Okay...but why? I'll trust your judgement on this, but I'm a bit of a details person, so the more information the better. :D

The only reason i suggested a "phat" model is due to the fact some slim versions are a little fussy extracting the key.bin file.As you are only needing the key to then flash onto a xk3y emulator you don't have to worry about buying a unlocked pcb.If you were to buy a phat model (preferably a corona/trinity mobo) you could have the best of both worlds by extracting the key file for the emulator and/or flash the dvd drive if you want to use backup discs at any time.Saying this i have had a phat xenon motherboard console running without any problems for 5 years.I believe its just pure luck how long a console lasts as many a slim have come through my door for repair.Slims are harder to open up and do take several attempts to get it stripped down in a respectable time.
