    Hi all,

I am trying to scan, save & edit my entire family photo collection.

I have saved them all, and have loads of duplicates.

While working to copy/replace/delete photos from hundreds of photos/yjousands of photos, I keep getting the "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close" message.

I think it something to do with dll(s) and have used the shellxview programme to stop everything that isn't Microsoft.

This helped a bit, but I still get the message.

The error message states this (if it's any help):

    Error Signature

    AppName: explorer.exe
    AppVer: 6.0.2900.5512
    ModName: divx.dll
    ModVer: 6.8.5.9
    Offset: 0012e59d

    Does this offer any clues?

Are there any idiot proof ways of sorting this out?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Ian

I've not had the problem, but have heard of something similar. It's when a folder that contains video is opened and Explorer tries to show a thumbnail.

The program called 'DivX all in one fix' has a setting for Explorer Crash.
As I said, I've not seen the problem and don't know if this fixes it.
