ok i'll give u guys the rundown.

i was installing the windows xp pro update onto a cpu that had windows 2000 pro.

installation went fine outside of a few messages stating some programs may not work well (printer etc).

after installation was complete, the cpu restarted fine. but when it went to load xp, it went into the menu screen where it asks u whether you want to start in safe mode, normal mode, etc.

i chose normal mode. cpu restarted, but it came back to the same screen. same deal with safe mode.

it said on the top of the screen that windows xp has failed to load because of software issues etc.

is there anyway i can recover from this? if not, how do i reformat from this screen and do a clean install?

btw, copied version of xp if that matters.

thanx in advance for ur help.
