Windows XP Pro freezes at load screen

    I got a new hd and installed windows xp pro on it..no problems yet.....then I ran windows update and all that was done successfully, but then when it reboots it starts with the windows xp load screen with the purple bar moving back and forth, then it freezes there. Any suggestions?

    can you boot xp in safe mode? If you can try system restore to before you updated windows.

    Yes, it will boot to safe mode, I'll try that when I get home....thanks.
