windows xp system disc!!!!!

    i just installed a dvd writer and when i boot the comp it needs the system disc, and i cant find mine so i was wondering is there a place i can dl one so i can use it to boot my comp?

    Does it say the same thing if you disconnect your dvd writer? have you checked your boot order and is your hdd specified as a boot option?

    At what point does it ask for the system disc?

    Ok this next question may sound stupid:
    but, Is there a floppy disk in the floppy drive when you try to bootup? If so, it may be a non-system disk, try taking it out.
