I have a new maxtor 40ig HD. What do i need to do to get it to work in my ps2 for the socom2 new maps? Do i just put in my pc and use winhiip to format to ps2? I did that and th hd fails to initialize in the ps2 when trying to download the new map. Do I need another program?

if you want it for the maps then you will either need a offcial $Ony HDD, or a modchip, and HDloader, and a 3rd party HD

Ok so I was planning on using a regular hard drive. So I will need a modchip? People on ebay are selling hard drives and saying I only need HD Loader. But they say I doon't need modchip. I want to know how to format the hard drive so the ps2 sees it.

ok the $ony HDD has special firmware that it detects.

if you use a 3rd party HDD with HDLoader that is used to back up games and so forth.

but if you wanna use S2 and a 3rd party HDD online you need to get a Mod chip to pass DNAS.
