Hey guys, I just got a Linksys WRT 54g wireless router. I have one question though- I only have 1 laptop and it seems that the router must be wired to a computer. Doesn't this defeat the purpose of getting wireless? I don't want my laptop to have to be physically connected to anything. Is this possible for me? Thanks a lot.

the router has to be connected to a computer for setup, so if your laptop is the only computer you have, then connect it to the router. run the setup disc, and complete the process.

once it's done being setup, you can remove the ethernet cable and run the laptop wirelessly.

Just thought i'd add, wireless is ok,but can slow speeds down.
So it depends on what your doing, and how it bothers you.
