    Okay, this is my puzzle
    -
Windows Media Player and Media Player Classic both respond the same way, they will not play video, only audio, UNLESS DIVX player is up and running, playing a file. If this is on, all is well, either play normally

Changes, I installed FLVplayer, other then that, all has been stable, no changes.

XP, latest updates, no hardware issues or changes. I tried to reinstall the XP codecs, through control panel, I am lost, any clues?

    Thank you

    Try re-registering quartz.dll

That does not seem to correct the issue, any other suggestions?

I am having the same problem. I used GSpot to try and re-register quartz.dll (there are 8 listed as problem) and it didn't fix anything. Please advise...

Spoke too soon, restarted, same issues, can anyone point me in the right direct, appears to be a codec problem, audio no video for any file played in WMP, UNLESS, another functioning player, for me, DIVX or dvd playing software is also running at the same time

IE, divx running, WMP works, plays video. Divx player not launched and running, no video out of WMP

    Any suggestions?
