I have a problem playing back any WMV files.
I have audio but all I see are multi colored squares and patches.
I've downloaded ffd show filter and still no good.
Can someone help me out before I loose my mind!? ;-)
    Thanks

Has this problem occured on all your WMV files?

Do any of your WMV files that you know work exhibit these colored patches?

Yes.. The problem is only with the WMV type files.
Every other file I play seems fine.(avi, mpeg etc..)

Do these problems occur on all your WMV files...did any of your files work before?

My little nephew updated to Windows Media Player 9 Three months ago and I just found out it isn't compatable with Windows 98. So I uninstalled Player 9 and installed player 7.1. Now I have Visual but no audio!!!!
I installed player 7.1 again but still no audio.
    What codec am I missing?
    thanks

When you play your WMV files in WMP does it attempt to download a codec that it says you need? Also where did you get these WMV files.

Do you mean to say that before your nephew upgraded, all your WMV files played correctly?
